In the beginning
I attended ACTFL convention at Washington DC on Nov 22 - 24, 2019. (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages) .
There at the exhibition table, I met a representative from Hyogo Prefecture. I lost his business card (Mr. Hideaki Kawachi who works at Seattle office), but coincidentally he and I both are graduates of the same high school. He gave me some information and files at this conference.
I always wanted to take various educators to Japan, and I felt the timing is right. I started the investigation for grants, contacted the Hyogo office, started to form the group of delegation at our school in Dec 2019 as soon as I resumed from Thanksgiving break.

Early morning of 12/4th, I could not sleep. I started researching more about Hyogo.
Because our people are very relaxed, country people, how can they adjust the busy, stressful, city-life to observe which even I am not sure I can adjust -back?? Hence, how can the observation of those type of life styles at schools in Hyogo can benefit our country, rural style schools in Ohio???
I researched where in the Hyogo is a best match. Then this web site of Izushi 出石 showed up. What a great place for our faculty!!!! Although Izushi is far from my home-city Amagasaki, I think it is a great match. Also our cattle raising culture will match the TAJIMA 但馬 area.
My thoughts keep getting big, like in the future, it will be nice to have a Japanese festival or Buckwheat festival and do soba demonstration, and wanko-soba competition etc.... (wanko soba, however is, from more northern Japan region???)

I also researched to see if where in Japan does Ohio have a sister-city relationship.....
1) Nandan-cho (with Celina, Ohio)
2) Harima (with Lima, Ohio)
3) Awaji (with St. Mary, Ohio)
4) Goshiki (with Van Wet, Ohio)
or politically more involved, and create a new sister-city relationship with IZUSHI - Ironton, (if everyone likes the idea....) hahaha
